Dr Leupp provides an excellent analysis of the geopolitical situation and the likelihood that the US will attack Iran in 2007.
However like many other US commentators he doesn't mention Bush's probable use of nuclear weapons, or how Bush may use a 'False Flag' type of attack on the US then blame it on Iran , to justify a war on Iran . An attack would frighten, confuse and probably enflame the US public with increased hatred of Iran , thus gaining their support for the planned war in much the same way as their support was gained for the phoney war on Iraq.

... DU munitions - shells, bombs and bullets, are combined with depleted uranium, a by-product of the nuclear industry. As a destroyer, tank-buster and killer, these weapons are much more effective and deadly than conventional munitions. As a result the USA and its allies have used DU weapons in four wars since the first Gulf war in 1991- increasing the DU tonnage used in each war.. But they explode on impact into millions of deadly, microscopic particles that slowly rise into the upper atmosphere, then blow and drift around the planet eventually settling to earth thousands of miles from where they are first used. Does Bush Think War with Iran Is Preordained?

The aircraft carrier Eisenhower, accompanied by the guided-missile cruiser USS Anzio, guided-missile destroyer USS Ramage, guided-missile destroyer USS Mason and the fast-attack submarine USS Newport News, is, as I write, making its way to the Straits of Hormuz off Iran. The ships will be in place to strike Iran by the end of the month. It may be a bluff. It may be a feint. It may be a simple show of American power. But I doubt it.

It took 6 years of relentless threats, sanctions and belligerence, but Bush finally succeeded in pushing Kim Jong-Il to build North Korea's first nuclear bomb. Now, Kim can just add a few finishing touches to his ballistic-missile delivery system, the Taepo-dong ICBM, and he'll be able to wipe out the 9 western states with a flip of the switch.

Wars and propaganda machines

Propaganda machines are dangerous, even more so in a democracy than in a totalitarian regime, because their goal is to confuse, disinform, lie, raise fear and manipulate the opinions of the people.

North Korea has repeatedly agreed to junk its nuclear weapons provided the US does three things:
1. deal directly with Pyongyang, which Washington refuses to do;
2. provide security guarantees that the US will not attack North Korea;
3. provide economic aid. The Bush Administration's hard-line neoconservatives refuse to 'validate' North Korea's totalitarian regime through direct talks. Neocons are determined to overthrow Kim Jong-il.t

Christian Fundamentalists like George Bush, believe that global warming does not matter, as God is coming soon to rule earth for 1,000 years, have the Biblical Armageddon battle and earth as we know it, will no longer exist. So who cares about global warming?

But Bush administration policy toward the Middle East is being run by men, yes, only men who were routinely referred to in high circles in Washington during the 1980s as "the crazies." I can attest to that personally, but one need not take my word for it. According to James Naughtie, author of The Accidental American: Tony Blair and the Presidency , former Secretary of State Colin Powell added an old soldier's adjective to the "crazies" sobriquet in referring to the same officials. Powell, who was military aide to Defense Secretary Casper Weinberger in the early 80s, was overheard calling them "the f -ing crazies" during a phone call with British Foreign Secretary Jack Straw before the war in Iraq. At the time, Powell was reportedly deeply concerned over their determination to attack with or without UN approval. Small wonder that they got rid of Powell after the election, as soon as they had no more use for him.

Since 1945, nuclear weapons have been considered a threat to humanities future. Intensive publicity on this theme, as well as much anti-nuclear campaigning has taken place around the world for the last 60 years. Diplomats have spent endless hours working on nuclear arms control treaties with eventual nuclear weapons abolition clauses. Why? Would this have been necessary if nuclear weapons were not so dangerous?

The scientists who crack open the nation's nuclear weapons for a living are never quite sure what they will find inside.
Many of the warheads were designed and built 40 years ago, and their plutonium and other components are slowly breaking down in ways that researchers do not fully understand. With no new bombs in production, the government spends billions of dollars each year tending to its aging stockpile.

Paul Craig Roberts has excellent credentials for warning us about the evil intentions of the Bush Administration. A Google search showed 14,200,000 entries under "Paul Craig Roberts". He is a prolific and well-known U.S. journalist whose warnings cannot be dismissed as "IMPROBABLE", "UNLIKELY" "CRAZY" "THEY WOULD NEVER DO THAT" etc.

There is no evidence that Iran has a nuclear weapons program. Every physicist knows that the enrichment requirement for weapons is many times greater than for nuclear energy and that Iran can barely achieve the latter. Despite the facts, Bolton told the Financial Times: "They've [Iran] got both feet on the accelerator, which is why we have a sense of urgency. Each day that goes by gives Iran more time to continue to perfect its efforts for mass production."

The so-called "war on terrorism" is actually a war on the Iraq people and the destruction of their country. From the beginning of the war in 2003. the U.S. reasons to justify this war were known to be lies. There were no WMD, no nuclear weapons programme, no links to al-Qaeda and Osama bin laden, and  no Iraq plans to attack the U.S. or U.K. From the beginning, the war was the most colossal fraud any American administration has every foisted on their own people. After destroying most of the Iraqi infrastructure, the Bush Administration made a big show about rebuilding Iraq and restoring all facilities including, electricity, sewage, bridges, hospitals, water etc. Many billions of dollars from the U.S. Treasury were made available for this work. After five months of confusion, bickering, dickering, dithering, and strong-arm tactics from Zalmay Khalilzad, our ambassador to Iraq and various high American officials arriving on the fly, Prime Minister-designate Nouri al-Maliki has reportedly chosen his cabinet and a government will evidently be established in Baghdad's Green Zone. At the moment, its reach seems unlikely to extend much beyond the American-protected berms and fortifications of that citadel-mini-state. In the meantime, what governmental authority still existed in Iraq seems to be rapidly on the wane -- and not just in largely Sunni areas of the country either. (In parts of Sunni al-Anbar province, however, according to Mathieu Guidère and Peter Harling of Le Monde Diplomatique, control seems to be passing into other "governing" hands: "A formal procedure is in place for lorry drivers to pay an insurance fee [to insurgent groups] that allows them to cross the governorate, as long as they are not supplying the enemy.")

The latest information I have had from the followers of der Bush is that he has demanded and received permission to use nuclear "bunker busters" in Iran in a preemptive strike. As a nuclear veteran (Operation Redwing, Bikini, 1956) I can affirm that this is absolute madness. The "bunker buster" is a cute sounding name for a nuclear horror. Air bursts are horrible enough, doing incredible destruction through heat, shock and high initial radiation. The fallout from an air burst is registered around the world. A surface or subsurface burst is even deadlier and more long lasting.

1,800 physicists have warned that we face human extinction if Bush's continues with his new nuclear doctrines, and proceeds with his strategy to use nuclear weapons against Iran or in other conflict. Many other well-informed experts have warned humanity with the same message. There are many reasons that nuclear weapons use would trigger rapid escalation to global nuclear war, and destruction of all life.

"It is gravely irresponsible for the U.S. as the greatest superpower to consider courses of action that could eventually lead to the widespread destruction of life on the planet.
